Sources & methodology
Statistics describe a window. They do not promise a career. Every comparison here uses the first 19 known, unambiguous starts in the published data.
Definitions, ranks & missing values
NCAA passer rating = (8.4 × passing yards + 330 × passing TD + 100 × completions − 200 × INT) / attempts. AY/A = (yards + 20 × TD − 45 × INT) / attempts. Total TD = passing + rushing TD. Completion % = completions / attempts × 100.
Ranks use the selected cohort, exclude unavailable values, and share ranks for ties. More is ranked higher except interceptions, where fewer is better. Record rank uses win percentage. These are cohort ranks, not all-time national ranks.
Any unknown earlier starter flag blocks later career-start ordinals. A missing 19-start window is never replaced with 19 appearances. Empty eras and missing values remain visible.
Sources & derivation
AP ranks use weekly poll alignment because publication timestamps are unavailable; AP chips are estimated, never CFP or coaches. Era yardage indexes use national per-team, per-game averages; Y/A and AY/A use attempt-weighted seasonal baselines.
CollegeFootballData supplies college box scores, rosters, plays, weekly AP polls, lines and national averages. Starts come from unique first-offensive-drive QB participation; older full-name or unique roster-initial matches are marked derived. Exact describes a copied source value, derived a calculation or documented inference, estimated uncertain source timing.
nflverse open releases supply draft and NFL outcomes. No sports-reference, ESPN or StatMuse scraping is performed by this project. Exports include snapshot identity, cohort definition and methodology.

This homepage is a start-19 explorer. The primary predictive backtest uses game 19, reported separately; neither is presented as a proven NFL forecast.
